Girls Nation and Outstanding Citizens Announced

On Saturday, June 20th, Director Lori Swann announced that Cristina Pop and Emma Watson were selected to attend Girls Nation later this summer.  Pop lives in Carrollton and was sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 597 of Carrollton. Watson of Highland Village was sponsored by Marcus High School and ran for a state office.  Pop was elected Federal Party State Chair.

First alternate is Elizabeth Jowers (Wylie, Unit 315) and second alternate is Cate Ghormley (Rockwall, Unit 974).  Jowers was selected Floor Leader in the House of Representatives for the National Party; Ghormley was elected Pecan County Attorney. Congratulations to these four exceptional citizens.

Each city at Girls State selected an Outstanding Citizen, who were all recognized by Girls State Director Lori Swann on Saturday, June 20th.
