Gift Shop Chair Bridget Luna Trawhon was a citizen of Girls State in 1989, Bridget is a Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1994 and a 2002 James Madison Fellow. She is currently an educator in Orange County and a proud member of ALA Unit 49 in Orange. Girls State inspired her to major in Political Science and become a government teacher. In past sessions she has been a JC, SC, and City Coordinator. Her favorite Girls State memory came in 1998 when a group of SCs, including Jessica Scott, named “The Dirty Dozen,” educated the future leaders of Texas. 

Candy Zavala: This is Candy’s sixth year in the Girls State Gift Shop. She is a member of ALA Unit 593. Candy currently serves as the 3rd Division President of the ALA Department of Texas. Candy and her husband reside in New Berlin. Candy and her husband enjoy riding their motorcycles with the American Legion Riders where she has been a member for 15 years. In real life, Candy’s day gig is the official court reporter for the 436th District Court in Bexar County. At night, Candy loves teaching Zumba and Pound and in her spare time she hangs out with her boxers, Remi and Deuce.

Elizabeth Cudd Anderson: A citizen of Girls State in 1998, Elizabeth represented the West Columbia chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary. She is a 2006 graduate of the Houston Baptist University Nursing BSN program. Currently, she is taking a hiatus from her role as an ICU/PACU nurse at The Methodist Hospital- Houston after 10 years to be at home with her daughters (Olivia and Whitney) and husband (David). Elizabeth has been a JC, SC, ED coordinator, but her favorite job has been as a Gift Shop Gal!

Aime Gallardo: A citizen of Girls State in 1995, Aime is an elementary teacher in Houston. She graduated from the University of Houston and later pursued her Masters in Education from Southern Methodist University. In past sessions, she has been a JC, SC and has now returned to join the fun in the Gift Shop!

Cheryl Huguley: This is Cheryl’s third year in the Gift Shop and as a Girls State staff member. She comes to us from Post #375 in San Antonio where she is a dual member, both Legionnaire and Auxiliary. In the real world, she is a retired Air Force Officer and currently works at The University of Texas San Antonio where she is a Human Resources Manager.

Chree Boydstun was a citizen in 1982. During her years at Girls State she has been a JC, SC, and a guest speaker. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University and has been a fundraiser for over 22 years. She has helped raise over 150 million dollars for under privileged communities. Her favorite memory of Girls State is when she spilt Diet Coke during a city meeting and her JC Karen Rodriguez just smiled.
