City A: Reagan Bachman runs track and field at Cornell University where she is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is from San Antonio, Texas, and was the County Chair of Pecan County her citizen year at Girls State. Each year, she returns to Girls State to carry on the enlightening traditions she experienced during her citizen year. Reagan loves educating young women on the Texas government system and promoting the exercise of political freedom. From Bellville, Texas, Gabi Beausoleil currently attends Texas A&M where she studies nursing. Her citizen year she ran for city council and county commissioner. She loves the passion for government at Girls State and the overall patriotism of feeling united.

City B: For Hubbul Rizvi, being a staff member at Girls State is a heartwarming experience. Hubbul is continuously amazed by the women that surround her during this unique program. Girls State has given her the motivation she needs to pursue a career in politics and law. Hubbul loves Drake, and Girls State is her favorite time of year! Avery Allen attends Baylor University where she studies Pre Health Sciences on the Pre-Med track. Her favorite thing about Girls State is the forever friends she has made. Avery comes back to Girls State because it is a place where she feels so loved and welcomed.

City C: Cate Ghormley attends Baylor University where she majors in Health Sciences with a concentration in Sports Medicine. Her favorite memory from Girls State during her time as a citizen was singing all of the songs with her new found friends. Cate comes back to Girls State each year because she loves the sense of patriotism that is instilled in each of the girls, and watching the citizens bond during campaigns, meals, and talent nights. Bailey Blezinger come to us from Industry Tx. She attends Texas A&M Kingsville where she studies Agricultural Business and plays golf for the university. When she was Girls State citizen she was a county clerk for Tejas County. Her favorite Girls State memory was learning about our government and cultivating her own views.

City D: Sydney Rubey is a Biology and Pre-Med student at Abilene Christian University. She is in the Honors College. Sydney’s favorite GS memory is when her SC filed her as a candidate for the wrong office. She laughed it off and had fun with it. Taylor Wright attended Girls State in 2016 and served as the Senate Floor Leader. She enjoys GS because of the community of empowered, passionate women around her. Taylor attends Stanford University and majors in Management Science and Engineering with a focus in Political Science and Voice.

City E: Rhett Parr is from Memphis, Tx and attends Texas State University. Her favorite memory from Girls State is cheering on her fellow citizens for state elections. As a citizen, Rhett was Commisioner of Education in her city. Rhett has a passion for Girls State and the priceless lessons and skills it teaches to the women of tomorrow. Originally from Kingwood, Texas Haley Hefner attends Texas A&M and studies Mechanical Engineering. When Haley was a citizen she ran for Federal House Whip and won. Haley loves Girls State and credits Girls State for making her more confident and bold.

City F: Perry Hector attends the University of Texas at Austin where she studies Business. Perry loves Girls State for many reasons; one of them is the connections formed with such a diverse group of amazing people who empower each other. Jalaiyah Chisolm attends Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. Jalaiyah’s favorite moments were being elected as County Attorney for her county her citizen year, getting to know her city, and going to the Capitol. She is very excited to be a counselor and to work alongside the staff this year!

City G: Becky Rigas attends the University of Texas and majors in Mechanical Engineering and Government. She is from Houston, TX, and was a City Councilwoman her citizen year at Girls State. Becky’s favorite part of Girls State is the sense of community between the girls and the opportunity to gain confidence. AP Velasco attends George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and majors in International Relations. Her favorite Girl’s State memory is when she walked the Senate floor as a floor leader. AP loves coming back from Girl’s State because she gets her dose of lady empowerment 10 days a year and believes that this is a place where magic happens and the future is made.

City H: Kirsten Handler attends The University of Texas at Austin and majors in Corporate Communications. Her favorite memory from her citizen year is when she performed a medley with a fellow citizen during the talent show. Kirsten returns to Girls State to help other girls have the empowering experience she herself had during her citizen year. Cristina Pop was a citizen of Girls State in 2015 and currently attends The University of Texas at Austin where she studies Journalism. Cristina thinks that there is nothing like meeting a group of girls who are just like you, but also unique in their own little ways. This is the place we can be our truest selves, and there’s nothing more empowering than that.

City I: Mansi Pandya is from Bay City, TX, and attends Texas A&M University where she studies Biomedical Sciences. She attended Girls State as a citizen in 2016. She credits Girls State for changing her into who she is today-a more confident individual. She thinks the best thing about Girls State is the awesome memories, experiences ,and the life long friends that we create. Breely Peterson is from Round Rock, Texas. She attends Southwestern University where she swims and majors in Pre-Law Political Science. Her favorite thing about Girls State is the lifelong connections and friends she’s made that she will cherish forever.

City J: Lexie Ferguson attends Texas State University where she majors in Elementary Education. Her favorite Girls State memory was her citizen year when her city stayed up until midnight to wish her happy birthday! Lexie loves coming back to Girls State because she loves meeting new people and teaching young women about our government. Emersen Bribiesca attends the U.S Military Academy at West Point where she pursues a career as an officer in the U.S. Army. She studies in the humanities. Her favorite part of the Girls State experience was discovering the ALA and its mission of selfless service, which she believes in wholly.

City K: Rebekah Lester attends Duke University and studies Sociology. Her most memorable moment of her Girls State session was speaking on the Senate floor in the Capitol building. She is honored to be a part of not only an educational camp but also a loving and talented group of women. Sarah Prichard attends the University of Texas at Austin where she is studies English. She plans to become a journalist and become certified to teach. She is from Rockwall, TX and her favorite part about Girls State is that she feels like her best and most authentic self when she is there.

City L: Hadley Kopser is from Austin and studies business and biology on a pre health track at SMU in Dallas. Her favorite citizen memory is Party Day and cheering for the Feds! She loves coming back as staff to be a part of the excitement that comes along with learning about government and being a part of all the fun things TBGS has to offer. Kendra Hess attends Oklahoma State University where she studies chemical engineering and environmental science. Her favorite part about Girls State is that it empowers young women to take ownership of their passions and channel them into governmental involvement.

City M: Kaylee King is originally from Pearland, but she currently attends the University of Texas at Austin where she is majoring in English. Her favorite memories from Girls State are of her supportive city and the encouraging atmosphere that formed lifelong friendships. Kaylee returns to Girls State because she loves encouraging others in their own Girls State experience. Lauren Moses is from Dallas Texas and attends the University of Mississippi where she studies Accounting and Tax Law. Her favorite Girls State memory was during closing ceremonies as we all joined hands to sing God Bless the U.S.A and came together as a community to remember the sacrifices of those who fight to protect our freedoms.

City N: Katherine Seibert attends the Austin College in Sherman, TX and studyies Biology and International Finance. During her citizen year, Katherine loved the challenge of debate and state elections. Girls State provides such an amazing experience and Katherine is so excited to be a part of it! For Mary Louise Nkashama, being at Girls State means being able to be her truest self. Girls State has given Marie-Louise the experience and confidence to pursue degrees in Film Production and Economics. She attends New York University.
