Dhru Gopaluni, Legislative Coordinator, is a graduate of Stanford University where she studied Management Science & Engineering. She currently works in D.C. as a data scientist. Girls State was an incredible experience for her, and she is so honored to be able to give back to the organization and program that gave her so much. Dhruti hopes she can uphold the values and share the lessons she learned during her time as a citizen and a staff member.
Sarah Lanford, Speaker of the House, and a 2013 citizen, works in Washington D.C. at a legislative monitoring firm as a health policy analyst. For the 2018 session, she is serving as Speaker of the House. Her favorite memory from Girls State was winning the Federal party nomination for Presiding Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals and running down the gym aisles with her Junior Counselors.
Neethi Nayak, President of the Senate, was a citizen in 2012. She graduated from Rice University in 2017 with a double major in Policy Studies and Sociology. She works as a consultant in the energy industry. She is an active member of the American Association of University Women and co founded a campus chapter.
Emi Hobart, Legislative Assistant, House, and a 2014 citizen, Emi was nominated and selected for the House Floor Leader for the National Party. She attends Texas A&M University where she majors in Political Science. Her favorite Girls State memory is making lifelong friends.
Isabella Randall, Legislative Assistant, House, and a 2017 citizen, Isabella was a Girls Nation Senator and proud member of the zero club. She is from Tomball, Texas, and attends Vanderbilt University. Her favorite Girls State memory was finding out her bill relating to sexual education was special ordered to be debated at the State Capitol.
Devin Powell, Legislative Assistant, Senate, a 2016 citizen, Devin was a House Floor Leader. She is from Houston, Texas and attends The University of Texas Austin. She majors in Mathematics with a focus on statistical analysis. Her favorite Girls State memory is debating legislation at the State Capitol.
Kerry Mackenzie,Legislative Assistant, Senate, and a 2017 citizen. Kerry attends the University of Texas as a Forty Acres Scholar where she studies Plan II and International Relations. Her favorite Girls State memory was presenting her gerrymandering bill at the State Capitol and-of course-making amazing friends!
