Kailey Peck (on left) was a citizen in 2009. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2014 with degree in History and a minor in Secondary Education. Her favorite Girls State song is “I’ve been Everywhere,” and her favorite part of Girls State is Capitol Day. She teaches AP US History and IB History of the Americas. Shelby Igaz (on right) attended Southern Methodist University where she majored in International Studies and graduated in 2014. Shelby was a citizen in 2010 and says she loves the program because of its dedication to training young, strong women to be great leaders, and the singing is great too. Shelby has previously been a JC, SC, and County Coordinator. Since graduation, Shelby has lived in Nashville to start her music career and now lives in Los Angeles where she works with a global lifestyle brand.
Neethi Nayak was a citizen in 2012. She graduated from Rice University in 2017 with a double major in Policy Studies and Sociology. She works as a consultant in the energy industry. She is an active member of the American Association of University Women and co-founded a campus chapter.
Dhru Gopaluni is a graduate of Stanford University where she studied Management Science & Engineering. She currently works in D.C. as a data scientist. Girls State was an incredible experience for her, and she is so honored to be able to give back to the organization and program that gave her so much. Dhruti hopes she can uphold the values and share the lessons she learned during her time as a citizen and a staff member.
Sophia Paolo is from Dallas. She attends Southern Methodist University and studies mechanical engineering and public policy. Her favorite memory from Girls State is writing legislation and listening to debate.
