City A: After serving as the City Attorney during her citizen year, Sadie Burt is excited to be returning as a Junior Counselor. She is currently at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in Advertising. Jennah Janak was born and raised in Angleton, TX. She is attending Texas A&M University, and majoring in Allied Health. Jennah held the position of Police Chief office for her city during her citizen year at Girls State. Her favorite Girls State memory is singing with all the staff and citizens in the House Chamber on Capitol Day.
City B: Anne Crisp grew up in Universal City and is now studying government at the University of Texas Austin. She loves being a JC and getting the see how each citizens grows through their week at Girls State. Hadley Kopser is an Austin gal that is studying business & biology on a pre health track at SMU in Dallas. Her favorite citizen memory is Party Day and cheering for the Feds! She loves coming back as staff to be a part of the excitement that comes along with learning about government and being a part of all the fun things TBGS has to offer.
City C: Elisabeth White, from Burleson Texas attends Abilene Christian University where she is studying Biochemistry. Party songs and campaigns are some of her favorite memories from her citizen year. Elisabeth enjoys coming back on staff to give the gift of Girls State that influenced her sense of patriotism forever. Kirsten Handler is attending The University of Texas at Austin and will be earning her Bachelors in Mathematics with teaching certification. Her favorite memory from her citizen year is when she performed a medley with a fellow citizen during the talent show. Kirsten returns to Girls State to help other girls have the empowering experience she herself had during her citizen year.
City D: Ellie Hamzy is a Wayland Baptist University Pioneer where she is majoring in biology. Ellie is also a member of the Coed cheer squad. Her passions include Star Wars, bears, & Honda fits. Ellie is so excited to be on staff as a JC for the 2016 session! Cate Ghormley is attending Baylor University where she is majoring in Sports Medicine and Health Sciences. Her favorite memory from Girls State during her time as a citizen was singing all of the songs with her new found friends. Cate comes back to Girls State each year because she loves the sense of patriotism that is instilled in each of the girls, and watching the citizens bond during campaigns, meals, and talent nights.
City E: For Hubbul Rizvi, being a staff member at Girls State is a heartwarming experience. Hubbul is continuously amazed by the women that surround her during this unique program. Girls State has given her the motivation she needs to pursue a career in politics and law. Hubbul loves Drake, and Girls State is her favorite time of year! Maria Dunne is from Shady Shores. She was the mayor of her city during her citizen year, and her favorite Girls State memory is standing up in senate and debating. Maria is attending Mary Hardin-Baylor majoring in nursing.
City F: Cassidy Womack is thrilled to be returning to Girls State as a Junior Counselor. As a citizen, Cassidy ran and won the position of Councilwoman. Outside of Girls State she attends Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi and is majoring in Nursing. Katherine Seibert is currently attending Austin College in Sherman, TX and studying Biology and International Finance. During her citizen year, Katherine loved the challenge of debate and state elections. Girls State provides such an amazing experience and Katherine is so excited to be a part of it!
City G: Julia Schrank is from Hamilton, TX, and is currently attending Texas A&M as a Communication major. Julia was a city council woman as a citizen, and her favorite GS memory was performing at the Talent Show & making forever friends.Ramona Greene is from San Antonio, TX. Romona’s favorite memory from Girls State was Whistle Stop because she got to interact personally with everyone here at Girls State and had the opportunity to experience first-hand how amazing everyone at Girls State is. Romona was elected governor her citizen year. She will be attending Stanford University as a pre-med student majoring in Political Science with a focus in International Relations.
City H: Mackenzie Young is from The Colony, and is currently studying Chemistry at Southern Methodist University. Her favorite memory from Girls State was participating in the Legislature. She loves coming back to Girls State to help bring this incredible program to the brightest of the upcoming generations. Rebekah Lester is attending Duke University and is studying Sociology. Her most memorable moment of her Girls State session was speaking on the Senate floor in the Capitol building. She is honored to be a part of not only an educational camp but also a loving and talented group of women.
City I: Kelsey Kallman attends the University of Texas at Austin as a Mathematics major. Her favorite thing about Girls State is the lifelong friendships! Lexie Ferguson is attending Texas State University where she will be majoring in Elementary Education. Her favorite Girls State memory was her citizen year when her city stayed up until midnight to wish her happy birthday! Lexie loves coming back to Girls State because she loves meeting new people and teaching young women about our government.
City J: Jenna Davenport is attending the University of Oklahoma where she is double majoring in International Business and Supply Chain Management, and minoring in Spanish. Her favorite memory from Girls State was the Muncipial court case, where she was the City Attorney. Jenna returns to Girls State because the program had a profound impact on her life and she wants to help the program inspire others. Kara Lyons is from Flower Mound, Texas. She was the Railroad Commissioner during her year as a citizen. Kara attends Texas A&M University and majors in Business Honors and Finance. Her favorite Girl State memory was getting all of the other citizens to sing along with her during her General speech.
City K: Ileyah Tovias attends Baylor University where she studies Accounting. Her favorite memory from Girls State is winning City Treasurer and being Song Leader. Ileyah comes back to Girls State because it’s the only place where you can simultaneously learn and form lifelong friendships. Jalaiyah Chisolm is attending Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. Jalaiyah’s favorite moments were being elected as County Attorney for her county her citizen year, getting to know her city, & going to the Capitol. She is very excited to be a counselor & to work alongside the staff this year!
City L: Reagan Bachman runs track and field at Cornell University where she is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is from San Antonio, Texas, and was the County Chair of Pecan County in her citizen year at Girls State. Each year, she returns to Girls State to carry on the enlightening traditions she experienced during her citizen year. Reagan loves educating young women on the Texas government system and promoting the exercise of political freedom. Kaylee King is originally from Pearland, but she is currently attending the University of Texas at Austin where she is majoring in English. Her favorite memories from Girls State are of her supportive city and the encouraging atmosphere that formed lifelong friendships. Kaylee returns to Girls State because she loves encouraging others in their own Girls State experience.
City M: Anna Zimmerman attends Texas Tech University and is majoring in Political Science with a minor in International Studies. Her citizen year, Anna was elected to the position of City Attorney. Anna’s favorite part of Girls State is all of the amazing friendships that are created. Rhett Parr is from Memphis, Tx and is attending Texas State University. Her favorite memory from Girls State is cheering on her fellow citizens for state elections. As a citizen, Rhett was Commisioner of Education in her city. Rhett has a passion for Girls State and the priceless lessons and skills it teaches to the women of tomorrow.
City N: Madison Bush’s hometown is Bulverde, Texas, although she is currently studying at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Madison is majoring in Political Science and Jurisprudence Philosophy and minoring in French Language and Literature. Madison was the Municipal Judge for her city when she attended Girls State as a citizen. Madison loved writing speeches and helping her friends make posters for their campaigns! Becky Rigas is attending the University of Texas and is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She is from Houston, TX, and was a City Councilwoman her citizen year at Girls’ State. Becky’s favorite part of Girls’ State is the sense of community between the girls and the opportunity to gain confidence.
